Organize all the mess. Again, we're starting from top to bottom here. The first step to organizing any room is to get rid of or organize all the little parts. So those papers you dumped, the clothes on the floor, the wrappers by your bed? Get rid of them. Then you can really get to work. (3)
While cleaning, walk around the house with a garbage bag and laundry bag. This way you can follow as you go and not have to walk back and forth.

Make the bed. Sure, making the bed looks useless - after all, you'll spoil it once dark - but once you get it, you'll realize how good the room looks and feels. Cleaning up the rest of the room will do the trick, because once it's done, it looks great.
Of course, you may want to wash the sheets and then make your bed. This includes pillow cases and duvet, too. Jumping on a mattress at night is a great feeling, but jumping on a clean, clean bed feels best.
Organize your closet. This should be something you do every day, but it's easy to let it get a little out of hand. Map your wardrobe in your mind - where are your pants, shirts, accessories, and underwear? Then move on to organizing, keeping the similar items together and the materials you wear the most.
It's not a bad idea to browse through your wardrobe and discover only what you want to get rid of (including random and unrelated items of clothing). Chances are, there are at least some pieces or things that you are no longer interested in that are cluttering your space. But don't get rid of them - they are likely to be donated.
Dust, vacuum or mop and spray a pleasant scent in the room. All those shelves, nooks and crannies (not to mention the bottom and back of the bed) are heaven for dust and lint. To get to them, a dust mitt or rag works, but you can also use dusting spray or disinfectant wipes to get the job done. Once everything is dusted off, with floor corners included, you can vacuum or mop accordingly.
Be gentle with certain pieces, like lamp shades and curtains. For these, you can take a hair dryer for them and blow out the dust gently.
When you're done, apply a nice, refreshing scent like lemon or lavender.

Clean the floor. It all depends on the type of floor you have: wood, ceramic, linoleum, and carpet (just to name a few) all require different methods of cleaning. What is the appropriate method for your floor?
Vacuuming is the most effective way to clean all the loose dirt and junk that builds up on the floor when you have a rug (which is practically a daily necessity when you have pets).
Instead, try a dry mop (the microfiber type works well) if you have tile / wood floors. You can use a carpet sweeper (a non-electric machine that pushes it and has brushes under it) if you have carpets. Both involve less fuss than taking out the vacuum and will allow you to go through longer between vacuuming sessions as well.
Mop your floor. Some new and innovative alternatives to wiping can be helpful, but they still do not replace a good rag mop to get rid of sticky dirt. In your kitchen and other areas, this is essential to get your floors sparkling clean. When it comes to decorative tiles or floors, nothing else will take the dirt out of the cracks and depressions.
There are a large number of options for rag mops. [4] A rag mop with a real scrub cloth is better and lasts longer than a mop with a sponge. With a good rag mop, one thing is guaranteed: When you use a little elbow grease, your floors will look great. Use hot water and detergent appropriate for your floor (again, read the labels).
